Planar will host a live performance by Carlos Casas, renowned filmmaker and visual artist. The event is promoted by RAMDOM and GAP (Galleria d’Arte Partecipata), as part of the project Investigation on the extreme Land, in collaboration with Planar.
During sunset Casas will realize a sound performance on the rooftop of Hotel Imago where Planar is hosted, with field recordings from his personal collection from extreme locations around the world. When the night comes, a selection of his video fieldworks will be projected over the walls around the terrace, with a live sound-set.
Casas realized a trilogy of work dedicated to the most extreme environments on the planet: Patagonia, Aral Sea, and Siberia. His films have been awarded in festivals around the world from Torino, Madrid, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City and some of his video works have been presented in collective and personal exhibitions.
Investigation on the Extreme Land is an on-going open project launched by Ramdom in 2014, as part of GAP. From Finis Terrae, Ramdom intend to investigate the life, the culture, the social relations in the ends of the earth.
Artists, scholars, curators, cultural workers and citizens will take part in this process of analysis that will use study methods, dialogue and analysis of various kinds. After the program of residencies, performances, exhibitions in 2014, the new edition has been launched with the call for Default15, an intensive workshop that will take place from July 13-19, in Gagliano del Capo (LE). A rich program of collateral events will take place alongside Default15 and Casas’ residency.
The performance of Casas will be the first event hosted on the rooftop of Hotel Imago where Planar is hosted.
